Though Naaman was a great, honorable, and wealthy man who had won victories because the Lord gave Syria deliverance, he suffered from leprosy. In his household was an unnamed young Israelite girl, captured during a raid and placed as a servant to Naaman's wife.

Despite her captivity, foreign environment, and humble position as a servant, this young girl possessed unwavering faith in the God of Israel and His prophet Elisha. Driven by compassion and conviction, she spoke up, telling her mistress that Elisha in Samaria could heal Naaman of his leprosy (2 Kings 5:3). Her bold testimony set off a chain reaction: Naaman informed the King of Syria, who then sent letters, silver, gold, and fine garments to the King of Israel (2 Kings 5:4-5).

Pastor Ratna highlights the contrast between the King of Israel and the servant girl. When the King of Israel received the letter, he panicked, tearing his clothes and assuming the Syrian king was seeking a quarrel (2 Kings 5:7). He lacked spiritual discernment and faith in God's power. In contrast, Elisha heard of the king's distress and instructed that Naaman be sent to him so that Naaman would know there was a true prophet in Israel (2 Kings 5:8).

When Naaman arrived at Elisha's house with horses and chariots, Elisha did not come out to greet him with grand ceremonies. Instead, he sent a messenger instructing Naaman to wash seven times in the Jordan River. Naaman was initially furious, expecting dramatic gestures and preferring the clean rivers of Damascus. However, his own servants reasoned with him, pointing out that if the prophet had asked for a great thing, he would have done it, so he should obey a simple command (2 Kings 5:13).

Naaman humbled himself, dipped seven times in the Jordan, and was completely healed—his flesh restored like that of a young child. Overwhelmed by his restoration, Naaman returned to Elisha and declared, 'Indeed, now I know that there is no God in all the earth, except in Israel' (2 Kings 5:15).

Pastor Ratna concludes by emphasizing that God uses the small, humble, and obedient to accomplish His greatest purpose. A single servant girl's faithful witness led to the healing of a mighty commander and a pagan leader declaring the glory of the living God. Believers are called to glorify God wherever He places them, remaining faithful, humble, and obedient.
