### Setting the Scene: Peter in Prison (Acts 12:1–6)
Bro. Youssef Sabry directed the congregation to Acts 12:1–6. King Herod Agrippa I had launched a severe persecution against the early church, executing James, the brother of John, with the sword. Seeing that this pleased the Jewish leaders, Herod arrested Peter during the Feast of Unleavened Bread, placing him under heavy guard of sixteen soldiers (four quaternions) in a dark, secure dungeon, intending to bring him out for public trial and execution after the Passover.

### The Wonder of Peter’s Deep Sleep
Bro. Youssef drew special attention to verse 6: on the very night before his scheduled trial and likely execution, Peter was sleeping soundly between two soldiers, bound with two chains. Humanly speaking, a person facing death the following morning would be consumed by anxiety, fear, and restlessness. Yet Peter was in such a deep sleep that when an angel of the Lord appeared, radiant with light, he had to strike Peter on the side to wake him up and tell him to get dressed and put on his sandals.

### Three Reasons for Peter’s Peace
Bro. Youssef outlined three primary reasons why Peter possessed such profound peace amidst an extreme crisis:

1. **Experience of God's Past Care**: Peter remembered how God had previously delivered him from prison in Acts chapter 5. Having witnessed God’s faithfulness in past trials, Peter knew that the same God who saved him before was fully capable of sustaining or delivering him again.
2. **Trust in God's Promises**: Peter recalled the specific word Jesus gave him recorded in John 21:18–19—that Peter would live to be an old man before dying a martyr’s death. Since Peter was still a young man and not yet old, he held fast to the divine promise that Herod could not kill him at this time. Relying on over 800 promises recorded in Scripture, believers can stand secure knowing God never breaks His word.
3. **The Unceasing Prayer of the Church**: Acts 12:5 notes that while Peter was kept in prison, 'earnest prayer for him was made without ceasing by the church unto God.' Peter’s peace was fortified by the spiritual backing of a praying church community. When earthly doors are locked and human help fails, the doors of heaven remain wide open through united, passionate prayer.

### The Miraculous Deliverance and Conclusion
As a result of God's power and the church's earnest intercession, the chains fell off Peter’s hands, the iron gates opened of their own accord, and the angel led him safely out to freedom. Bro. Youssef encouraged the congregation to take pride in being followers of Jesus Christ, the highest authority over all earthly kings and rulers. Whatever trials or crises believers face today, they can experience divine peace by remembering God's past goodness, standing on His promises, and engaging in fervent church prayer.
